Nikki Knight: Work / Life Balance

1. Schedule some fun: You need time to recharge & feel in control

One of the best ways to be a successful cam model is to have a consistent, visibly scheduled presence that is easily found online. This also means booking days off for some YOU time.

Performing is a significant drain on your energy (both physically and mentally), so if you don't

Recharge yourself by hanging out with friends, doing your favourite hobbies, or resting.

You won't be very fun to watch, and you'll burn out very quickly.

When you control your time, you can deliver deeply engaging performances, connect authentically with your audience, and cultivate a loyal following that leaves a meaningful legacy in your chatroom community.

2. Set Fan Expectations Using Your Bio - Here’s How

Take a look at your bio in your Stripchat profile and social accounts. Does it tell the reader WHEN or HOW they can connect with you? If you answer DM’s on that account? If you do, how long can fans expect to hear back from you?

Eg. My FanClub members get priority in my DM’s. I chat 1-on-1 after every live show and all day on ‘Sexting Sundays’. *No DM’s on Mondays*

Eg. (Social bio) NO DM’s! I’m too busy chatting with my FanClub on Stripchat.

3. Make a 'never list'

The best part about chatting with your fans is getting to know them and becoming comfortable in your room. This benefit has a darker side, though: oversharing personal info with fans you have known for a while. This has obvious risks but can seem innocent at the moment. Don’t be fooled.

To prevent fans from:
- Trying to insert themself into your personal life.
- Engaging with your personal social accounts.
- Doxing (sharing your real name, address or other private info)
- Messaging you offline (and at all hours of the day or night)
- Getting confused that you are more than just “chatroom friends”

Make a list of ALL the info you would tell your best friend never to share with people they met online. This helps increase the amount of information you realize is sensitive.
E.g.. Facebook, phone number, school, usernames not connected to camming you use online, PAYPAL, etc…

Now, take some paper, a sticky note, or even a really nice sign that says “REMEMBER THE LIST” and put it somewhere in your cam room that you can see but isn't in direct view of your cam. This is only to prevent questions about the sign.

BONUS: You can also do this with your personal sexual boundaries.

4. How to keep your fans while declining their requests

As a cam model, you are no stranger to bold requests. The issue comes in when it comes from a whale, is tied to a large tip or you simply haven't formulated a standard answer to this type of request. Just remember to keep it simple and that you’re telling the truth.

Request one: “I’d love to fly you to my beach house in ______. Would you come if I paid for your flight?”

Answer:
“It’s a lifetime ban for models to meet in person and we can both get in trouble just talking about it. You wouldn't want me to get permanently banned would you?”

Request two: “I pay good money for models to do __________. I’ll give you ______ tokens to make me a video of you doing __________.”

Answer:
“Honestly (members username), that's not for me. It’s important to me that you can share your fantasies, but I also have to stay true to me. Do you understand?”

5. Dedicate One (Work) Day A Week Where You Do Not Talk to Fans

Tasks to focus on:

- Film new content to upload to your FanClub and/or Stripchat galleries.
- Schedule social media posts.
- Look at your earnings report to review high/low earnings days and see if there is a pattern.
- Draft the next week’s DM’s to stir up engagement.
- Research new show ideas or themes.
- Read sales psychology articles online.
- Research some ‘stress relief’ strategies you can use while online.
- Talk to other models in the Stripchat Discord :)
